Issue:
An individual running for cover in a severe rainstorm claimed that a festival tent fell/was blown down onto her posterior right thigh causing an anterior dislocation of her right knee.  What was the cause of the right knee dislocation?

Results:
Based on a calculation of the wind velocity and force and the individual’s distance from the tent at the time of the incident, Northstar Biokinetics determined that the tent could not have fallen on the her leg.  In addition, a blow to the posterior thigh would not have caused an anterior dislocation.  The individual in question was obese, and the literature clearly describes “spontaneous” or low velocity knee dislocations in obese individuals.  Northstar Biokinetics concluded, therefore, that the individual’s excessive weight in combination with planting her foot on rough terrain generated significant force on her hyper-extended knee causing an open, anterior dislocation.
